Photography Equipment Checkout Agreement
Student Responsibility:
The student signing this form is solely responsible for the photography equipment checked out at all times. This includes any loss, theft, or damage to the equipment. The equipment is the property of the State of Minnesota, Professional Photography Program of Ridgewater College, and is loaned to students for academic purposes only.
Late Fees and Penalties:
- Late Returns: A $20 daily late fee will be charged to your student account for each day the equipment is overdue.
- Unreturned Equipment: For equipment valued at $500 or more not returned within 30 days of the due date, Ridgewater College will make one final attempt to contact the student. If the equipment remains unreturned, a hold will be placed on your student account preventing registration for any Minnesota State College and University System courses. The student will own the equipment and must pay the full market value to lift the hold. The State of Minnesota reserves the right to collect this debt through wage garnishment.
Equipment Use and Care:
- Permitted Use: The equipment may only be used for academic purposes and must comply with all Ridgewater College policies, including the Code of Conduct.
- Prohibited Use: The student agrees not to:
- Charge clients money while using the rented equipment
- Violate any laws while using the equipment.
- Operate the equipment recklessly or abusively.
- Leave the equipment unattended.
- Allow other students to use the equipment.
- Sublet, rent, sell, or transfer the equipment.
- Remove the equipment from the United States.
- Equipment Condition: The student agrees to examine the equipment upon checkout and report any damage or malfunctions immediately. The equipment must be returned clean, securely packaged, and in its original condition, except for normal wear and tear. A $50 per hour cleaning fee will be charged for equipment returned in unacceptable condition. The student is responsible for any damage to the equipment and will be charged accordingly.
Additional Information:
- Please remove all personal images from memory cards before returning the equipment.
- Student order requests are subject to change based on availability and status within the program.
- Priority of equipment rental will go to students seeking degrees within the Photography or Photo & Design programs.
- Report any equipment malfunctions to the Ridgewater College Professional Photography Program immediately.
